Mobile Tyre Fitting in Gloucester

Gloucester, the M5 junctions and the A40 - 24 hours a day.

Gloucester sits beside the M5 where it runs down the Severn valley, with the A40 heading east towards Cheltenham and Oxford and the A417 climbing the Cotswold escarpment.

Roads we get called to around Gloucester

  • M5 junctions 11, 11a and 12.
  • A40 — the Golden Valley bypass towards Cheltenham.
  • A417 — south east over the Cotswold edge towards Cirencester and the A419.
  • A38 and the industrial estates along it, plus the docks.

The A417 escarpment

The climb up onto the Cotswolds is steep and, in places, has limited refuge. It also catches weather that the valley does not — fog and ice arrive at the top before they arrive at the bottom.

A tyre problem on the climb is worse than one on the flat: less grip available, more load transfer, and fewer safe places to stop. If you can get to the top or back to the bottom before stopping, do.

The M5 in summer

This stretch carries the whole of the country's holiday traffic towards the south west. If you break down here in August, expect the hard shoulder to feel unpleasantly busy. Get behind the barrier, up the bank, and stay there until we arrive.

  • Find your locking wheel nut key. Without it the wheel cannot come off. It is usually in the glovebox, the boot well, or with the spare.
  • Read your tyre size off the sidewall, for example 205/55 R16 91V, so we arrive with the right tyre rather than making a second trip.
  • If you are on a motorway or dual carriageway, get out on the passenger side and wait behind the barrier — not in the car.
