• A40 — west to Gloucester and the M5, east up the hill towards Oxford.

Race week

During the Festival the town's traffic changes character entirely, and parking around the course and the approaches becomes extremely congested. If you are stuck somewhere in that, be specific about where — and be realistic that access will be slower than usual for everyone.

Much of central Cheltenham is Regency terraces with cars parked nose to tail on both sides. The constraint is space beside the vehicle rather than anything else. Tell us when you call whether there is room alongside, and whether the street is on a slope.

If there is genuinely no room, moving the car a few yards at walking pace to a wider spot is usually acceptable even on a flat tyre — we will advise when you ring.
