Preston is a motorway junction town in the truest sense. Three motorways converge here, and the stretch of M6 alongside the city is one of the busiest in the north west.

Much of what we attend on the M6 here is people travelling between the north and the Midlands, often a long way from home. If you are mid-journey, the question is not only "can this be repaired" but "will this get me where I am going safely".

  • Find your locking wheel nut key. Without it the wheel cannot come off. It is usually in the glovebox, the boot well, or with the spare.
  • Read your tyre size off the sidewall, for example 205/55 R16 91V, so we arrive with the right tyre rather than making a second trip.
  • If you are on a motorway or dual carriageway, get out on the passenger side and wait behind the barrier — not in the car.
