Hull is a port city at the end of a road. The M62 becomes the A63 and runs straight into the docks, and that single corridor carries an enormous amount of freight.

• A63 Castle Street — the main artery into the city and the docks, consistently heavy with lorries.
• M62 where it feeds into the A63 to the west.
• Humber Bridge and the A15 south towards Lincolnshire.
• A1079 north towards York, and the industrial estates around the port.

Freight, debris and punctures

Dock approach roads collect debris — wire, banding, fragments off trailers. A lot of the punctures we attend here are clean tread penetrations from exactly that, which is the repairable category provided the damage sits in the central portion of the tread and the tyre has not been driven on flat.

The Humber Bridge

Do not stop on the bridge if you can avoid it. It is exposed, it is long, and there is very little room. If the vehicle will still move slowly, continue to the far side and pull in there; if it will not, use the emergency phones so the bridge operators know before anyone approaches.
