Mobile Tyre Fitting in Bath

Bath, the A4 and A36 and the hills between - 24 hours a day.

Bath sits in a bowl, and every route out of it is a climb. That geography, combined with a World Heritage centre full of narrow Georgian streets, makes it one of the more awkward cities to work in.

Roads we get called to around Bath

  • A4 — west towards Bristol, east towards Chippenham.
  • A36 — the route south towards Warminster, climbing steeply out of the city.
  • A46 — north to M4 junction 18.
  • The Georgian terraces and crescents, and the steep residential streets on the valley sides.

Hills and handbrakes

A lot of Bath parking is on a genuine gradient. That matters for a wheel change: a jack needs level, firm ground, and a car on a slope with one wheel off is not something to improvise with.

If your car is parked on a hill, tell us. We would rather know before we arrive, and occasionally the right answer is to move it a short distance to somewhere flat first.

Narrow streets and setts

Parts of the centre are cobbled or laid with stone setts, and several streets are too narrow to get a van alongside a parked car. Be specific about the street and whether there is space beside the vehicle.

The A36 climb south is worth a mention: it is steep, it is used by heavy traffic, and it is not a road to nurse a damaged tyre up.

  • Find your locking wheel nut key. Without it the wheel cannot come off. It is usually in the glovebox, the boot well, or with the spare.
  • Read your tyre size off the sidewall, for example 205/55 R16 91V, so we arrive with the right tyre rather than making a second trip.
  • If you are on a motorway or dual carriageway, get out on the passenger side and wait behind the barrier — not in the car.
